R.D.M.S./ Sonographer
Time Commitment: Full time, 40 hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30
POSITION SUMMARY:
The RDMS/Sonographer provides ultrasounds, pregnancy test, and other CLIA waived testing the clinic offers within their scope and is responsible for following the best practices, policies and procedures and protocols of the Patient Service Department of the clinic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care
- Review of patient file to ensure proper medical forms are correct.
- Answer any medical questions from a patient or patient advocate when needed.
- Knowledgeable in-patient resources and referrals for quality patient care.
- Provide urine pregnancy testing and results to the patient when necessary.
- Provide CLIA waived testing according to policies and procedures.
- Provide limited diagnostic ultrasound exams to medical standards of care when needed.
- Take adequate medical history prior to an ultrasound examination when necessary.
- Educate patient about abortion risks and procedures, fetal development, and STI/STD.
- Follow procedures for timely patient follow-up.
- Always maintain kindness and professionalism when interacting with patients.
Medical Services Operations
- Work closely with Nurse Manager regarding best practices and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Review and complete patient files by the end of the day.
- Ongoing review of patient files including obtaining ultrasound report and follow-up procedures with patients.
- Ensure that ultrasound equipment is properly operated and maintained.
- Maintain relationship and communication when necessary, with Nurse Manager and Dr. reading scans when necessary.
Emergencies
- Emergency calls: refer to a local hospital emergency room, her physician and/or advise to call 911.
- Medical emergency on-site: follow procedures for medical emergencies.
Continuing Education
- Comply with state and professional licensing and continuing education requirements.
- Annual renewal of BLS CPR Certification.
- Ongoing self-education of current abortion procedures and risks.
- Education webinars or training as recommended by the Nurse Manager and Executive Director.
Public Relations
- Attend and fully participate in the special events of the ministry: Golf for life (fall), Gala (spring)
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior with a passion and heart to work in ministry.
- Full agreement with Women’s Choice Resource Center Mission and Statement of Faith, Statement of Principle, and policies and procedures of the clinic.
- Holds a current medical license as an RDMS.
- Graduate of a 2- or 4-year medical program in Imaging.
- Has clinical experience in OB/GYN sonography.
- Dependable, stable, and capable of following through on commitments.
- Willingness, ability, and confidence to follow medical policies and procedures.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Multi-Tasking abilities and flexibility.
