Job Description

Position Summary:

The Food Services Manager supports the mission of our school by ensuring their team offers the highest quality of food service to the staff and students. The Manager will be responsible for the business and operational management of food services, equipment and personnel within the organization.

Status:  Full-Time / Exempt / 12-month

Responsibilities:

1. Direct and manage the expenditure of the food service budget to ensure that the food service operates within established budgetary guidelines.
2. Hire, train, and supervise the food services staff and recruit and train volunteers and substitutes.
3. Organize, direct and monitor daily logistics of food service staffing and workload to efficiently complete daily food preparations and service.
4. Process invoices and reconcile the billing and collections on staff and student accounts.
5. Responsible for the selection and preparation of monthly healthy menus.
6. Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
7. Understand and implement safety procedures as required by the school and state to include but not limited to proper lifting techniques, proper attire and the proper use of kitchen equipment.
8. Order, purchase, deliver and setup breakfast and lunches for various meetings, in-service, events and retreat.
9. Work directly with athletics to ensure team meals follow school policies.
10. Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and a positive team environment.
11. Oversee the HeBrews coffee shops.
12. Oversee proper receiving, storage, and preparation techniques to ensure that all food items are maintained per food safety guidelines until consumed.
13. Oversee inventory control and maintenance.
14. Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
15. Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
16. Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
17. Other duties as assigned that are closely related to this position.

Qualifications:

• Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with the President and Board’s expectations, established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
• Must have purchasing and business management skills experience.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Must have knowledge of large quantity meal preparation and menu planning.
• Must have knowledge of food safety standards in compliance with local and state laws.
• Must have a Texas Food Manager Certification or be willing to obtain one upon acceptance of position.
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen service and maintenance required.
• A High School diploma is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in a field such as dietetics, nutrition, culinary arts, hospitality, or business is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of prior food service management experience.
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational and technology skills.

Mental and Physical Demands and Hazards:

• Maintain stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure.
• Will stand and walk most of the day.
• Exposure to toxic/chemicals/detergents, extreme conditions of hot and cold, dust/fumes, moving mechanical parts, potential electrical shock, high pitched noises and gaseous risk exposure.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull objects in excess of 50 lbs. with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of objects weighing 25 lbs. or more.
• Frequent stooping, bending and kneeling.
