Event Coordinator & Children’s Education Specialist (On-site only)
Position Overview
The Event Coordinator & Children’s Education Specialist position is an important role that primarily involves planning and carrying out exciting, educational, and edifying events of various sizes and types, all across the United States. This role involves working closely with the Event Coordinator-Church Conferences Specialist and the Director of Events to collaborate in the planning and execution of ICR’s larger events that involve multiple days / speakers, and children’s sessions.
In addition to this primary role, the ideal candidate will also develop, implement, and oversee an engaging, exciting, and high-quality program of hands-on activities with a STEAM focus, interactive Bible and creation-based teaching sessions, and take-home projects, all geared towards students in the elementary and middle school age levels.
Position Responsibilities May Include
- Coordinating event planning with Point of Contact at host location through to the event’s completion
- Working closely with the ICR speaker team and the Director of Events to determine the best selection of speakers and presentations for the event
- Working closely with the Communications Department and Digital Media Department to create and distribute all promotional materials in a timely fashion
- Coordinating logistics for speakers and Events support teams, including arranging transportation, lodging accommodations, and equipment needs
- Coordinating with the Sales & Distribution Department to schedule event related shipments prior to the event
- Managing “day of” event operations including; on-site set up of book store area, set up of events displays and audio / visual media equipment used by speakers, interacting with and ensuring the best experience for participants at the event, overseeing the operations of the book store area, managing volunteers, and completing on-site break down and clean up
- Overseeing financial transactions and complete all necessary reports in a timely fashion
- Working closely with the Science Research Department, the Communications Department and Digital Media Department to utilize existing ICR resources, to create educational and interactive programs, activities, workshops, and supplementary materials for educational and fun kids’ sessions geared towards the elementary and middle school aged children who attend ICR events
- Completing other events related assignments and special projects as assigned by the Director of Events
Other Skills/Abilities/Necessities
- The ideal candidate should be:
- A team player who is energetic, hard-working, eager to learn and do new things, has a positive attitude, and is detail oriented and reliable
- Creative, thinking outside-the-box, and looking for ways to improve on existing processes and products
- Personable and articulate, reflecting well the mission and goals of ICR as they represent ICR to event organizers and event attendees, vendors, and others they may interact with in the general public
- A completed undergraduate degree is preferred; ideally in communications, education, or general physical or biological sciences
- 2+ years in teaching elementary or middle school education is preferred, but not required
- 2+ years of event planning experience is preferred, but not required
- Experience using Power Point, Keynote, Prezi, ProPresenter, Google Suite of products, etc. is a plus
Qualifications
- Must be knowledgeable of, and in agreement with ICR Principles of Biblical Creation, and should have a personal salvation testimony and a love for the Lord Jesus Christ
- Must provide a written testimony of salvation/faith in Jesus Christ
- Must be a self-motivated, team player with the ability to respond to multiple demands; having the ability to handle several projects simultaneously, and to prioritize and work well under pressure while maintaining a positive, pleasant attitude
- Must be able to handle finances in a trustworthy way including planning and using an event budget, as well as handling cash and credit cards while performing event book store sales
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, primarily the Excel, Word, and Power Point programs
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings from time to time, as required
- Must be able to travel extensively, working successive events back to back
- Must have the physical ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry packages and other equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Must have the physical ability to stand between 4 – 6 hours consecutively
