About the Job: Legacy Adoption Services, a successful and growing adoption agency that helps woman with unintended pregnancies plan for their child’s future, has an opening for an Options Counselor. We need a compassionate social worker that is passionate about adoption as an option, that is fully functional working independently with clients and in the community.
Description:
- Assess each new client’s needs, develop a customized plan of care for each client, and manage the client’s overall care and satisfaction throughout the client’s time with the agency.
- Provide ongoing counseling regarding the adoption process and the emotional challenges present in making an adoption plan,
- Assess the needs of each client and implement the agency’s financial assistance program for each case,
- Maintaining current and thorough notes on all contacts and counseling,
- Transport clients and attend medical and community resource appointments,
- Maintaining a flexible schedule to meet client needs as they arise,
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with all referral sources, including physicians, pregnancy centers, schools and hospital personnel, including but not limited to case managers, discharge planners and other appropriate referral sources.
- Prioritize efforts to meet the changing needs of the agency, clients and referral sources.
- Represent the agency and its services in a competent, professional, and responsive manner.
- Must be able to set appointments during evenings and weekends as client’s need.
- Must be able to work overnight, on-call hours for client deliveries.
- Clients may be in the surrounding DFW communities as well.
- Some travel around Texas for remote clients.
- Will need to come into the main office in North Richland Hills, TX periodically.
Requirements: An ideal candidate will:
- Have a passion for helping people who need assistance.
- Personal connection to adoption a plus.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Have related adoption experience.
- Must have Master’s Degree in a human services profession and at least one year of residential, CPS caseworker, or adoption experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services profession and at least two years of residential placement, CPS caseworker, or adoption experience.
- Be a self-motivated individual that can prioritize, schedule and work independently.
- Have excellent verbal and presentation skills.
- Work efficiently and maximize time in all business activities.
- The position calls for an independent professional who can accurately track and report the progress of work with a client, who has reliable transportation, whose schedule permits contacting and meeting with clients on short notice.
- Have a professional image. You must have a reliable car, car insurance, and a TB test. Must pass criminal background and drug screen.
