Heritage Church is a multisite, non-denominational church located about 30 miles north of Chicago. The church is led by Lead Pastor Skyler Goodman who about four years ago led the merger between two churches to relaunch together as Heritage. The church currently has three campuses, with the Lake Zurich campus being the main campus. There is also a campus in Libertyville and Round Lake Beach, IL. Attendance currently runs around 1700 each week across all of their campuses. Currently, the Lake Zurich campus runs two identical in person services: 9:00am and 11:00am on Sunday mornings and also offers online live-streaming services.
The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Groups & Online Pastor to oversee the discipleship and online ministries at the Lake Zurich campus, and have some central team oversight. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Groups & Online Pastor will relentlessly identify, envision and empower small group leaders throughout Heritage Church Campuses. Develop materials to help people coach, lead and reproduce the discipleship efforts of Heritage Church.
- Develop processes and pathways to engage people into a small group connection environment that allows them to take next steps in their faith journey.
- Guide, nurture, and spiritually shepherd people within the digital age and in an online church environment.
- Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and take next steps at Heritage Church.
- Small Groups
- Responsible for planning, organizing and leading multiple connection and discipleship efforts at Heritage Church Lake Zurich Campus.
- Building a “Coach” system for our small groups and giving leadership and guidance to all of our coaches and group leaders to ensure alignment of mission, vision & culture church-wide.
- Responsible for all aspects of Rooted (Planning, Leading and Growing this discipleship pathway).
- Be an excellent mobilizer of people.
- Participate in building our Small Groups Budget annually.
- Fueled by discovering and creating new ways to make groups accessible and sticky to the Church.
- Driven by building teams to accomplish new initiatives.
- Develop and maintain influential relationships with Heritage Campus Pastors and other staff to ensure alignment.
- Online Pastor
- Humanize a digital experience. Add a personal element to an experience that might otherwise be just a screen and a message.
- Reach out after a service to greet or connect with those that have attended.
- Use the corporate worship connection efforts to open a door for deeper connection with others – a key to reaching people and helping them grow in their faith.
- Develop an effective way to educate newcomers about who the physical church is: theologically, historically, and what’s to come in the future, without making the denominational aspect more important than the Christian faith itself.

- Research and implement best practices with scheduling, technology and staffing to do an online church experience that is compelling and effective.
- Driven by building teams to accomplish new initiatives.
- Develop and maintain influential relationships with Heritage Campus Pastors and other staff to ensure alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experienced in building and leading teams in a large church format.
- Ability to recruit, develop and coordinate volunteers.
- Ability to self-manage and initiate tasks
- Must be able to work under the demands of an intense ministry environment.
- Ability to write correspondence, training procedures and policies that reflect the professional, life-giving culture of Heritage.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop influence, trust and unity among the connection/online staff and leaders.
- Ability to research, contextualize and implement online connection strategies – take the “best of” ideas of forward-thinking churches in order to build an engaging environment at Heritage Church.
- A multi-tasking team player with high energy, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.
- Education
- A bachelor’s degree in a relative field is preferred.
- Experience
- At least three to five years of experience in leading a discipleship ministry and can provide tangible measures of growth in those past ministry experiences.
