Job Description
The Field Technology Specialist serves as an integral part of the IT team, which delivers products and services that support field projects and field teams. In this role, you will support field-focused projects for Orality Bible Translations (OBT). You will also support our OBT partners working directly with translators. This will include hardware and software support for specialized OBT technologies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Communicate with field staff regarding hardware/software solutions and recommendations related to user issues, concerns related to translation software, processes and other related matters.
• Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed and the be the knowledge expert pertaining to translation operating procedures, requirements, processes and policies.
• Recognize the challenges of working in developing world where education and infrastructure are less abundant.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for end users
• Provide support for setting up translation project network systems.
• Provide input into the baseline operating system settings and applications to be used in a Translation Team standardized image for field system provisioning.
• Assist in the identification and nurturing of national partners and train as appropriate in the support of the translation software and IT network requirements.
• Attend and support new project workshops. Duties to include system configuration, setup and deployment, technical setup and administrative training.
• Provide technical support for field based systems and route request to appropriate resources.
