Position Overview:
The Editor position is an important role that supports ICR and the Communications Department. You will be responsible for editing, writing, and/or managing content for ICR printed and online resources. You will help the Communications team craft and refine ideas for ongoing projects, produce digital books, coordinate news articles for the ICR website, and perform other editorial duties as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the editing and review of ICR’s printed periodicals Acts & Facts and Days of Praise
- Manage the editing and scheduling of the regularly posted online news articles
- Prepare digital versions of ICR’s published books
- Assist in the editing and review of ICR’s published books
- Provide support for Communications team projects
Requirements:
- Hours of operation are 8:30 – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (flexibility available – will discuss)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, English or communications-related major preferred but not required
- At least 3 years prior editorial experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, strong interpersonal skills
- Agreement with ICR’s core principles and purposes
Additional Preferred Abilities:
- Knowledge of the fundamental issues involved in the creation-evolution debate
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook, Adobe InDesign, Vellum
- Experience in the production of digital books
- Experience using a Mac computer
- Experience in public relations, promotions, and marketing
- Experience in freelance writing and publishing
