Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall task via Café and Bookstore.
- Create, cook, and add new menu items based on seasonal and customer preferences (example: Nutritious, Vegan, etc.). Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store daily.
- Develop and plan menus and daily specials. Understand menu and recipe development techniques.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations including safety.
- Hiring and training employees. Ensure all Café/Bookstore areas as clean and tidy.
- Assigning tasks to employees, make certain all responsibilities and duties are performed correctly and timely.
- Ensure storage and purchase of the proper number of supplies for the Coffee Shop and Merchandise for the store. Process special orders including credit card orders, ensure immediate shipment.
- Maintain a balance of cash drawer, ensure all deposits are accurate.
- Maintain Bookstore inventory and maintain Daystar brand in-store through designing, decorating, and arranging stock.
- Receives all estate jewelry donated to the ministry and ensures proper appraisals and pricing.
- Prepare daily and monthly reporting to the accounting department.
- Perform all administrative tasks, create accounts with vendors, approve invoices and submit all expenses to the Executive Director of Operations for approval.
- Per request: Provide products needed to other departments in the organization and report all requests on the House Account.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Work experience as a Café Manager (coffee chop) including Chef experience
- Must demonstrate knowledge of primary job duties/responsibilities and KSA’s
- Knowledgeable of Food and Safety Regulations
- Must be able to use knife/kitchen equipment properly.
- Leadership Experience with direct reports (4)
- Ability to address complaints and resolve conflicts professionally.
- Train employees on drinks (coffee, etc.) preparation and proper use of equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and order supplies. Reporting tasks (daily and monthly).
- Maintain updated records of daily, weekly, and monthly revenues and expenses.
- May have some local travel. Work additional hours during events (Christmas Lights, etc.)
- Must be a Christian who is personally committed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Education and Experience
- Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college
- Two-three years of related experience and/or training in Retail Management or a combination of both. Stay Informed and aware of culinary trends.
- Chef experience required. Managing Café, Coffee Shop, and Retail are required.
- Comply with the Health Department Guidelines (training and certification are required).
